What an outstanding way to start the post graduate certificate! We developed our understanding of what the difference between a leader and a leadership role is. The only difference is recognition. We also discussed in-depth what knowledge is. We made the decision that it was a process and that it became more of a verb than a noun. To consolidate our learning we were asked to make a 1 minute long video about what knowledge is. We worked collaboratively on developing a stop motion animation of a spider who spent his time developing his knowledge from difference sources and being challenge to dismantle his/hers misconceptions about global warming. It was an interesting process and it was cool to see how our ideas managed to just flow together to create the film/movie. I like the way we were made to problem solve how we were going to create the movie. It made me think about what we were going to need in order to achieve the success criteria. It reminds me of Adventure Learning/The Passion Project/20% Time where students are given the opportunity to work on the problem solving skills in order to represent and develop their understanding of something they are interested in. The theory behind it is that if you are able to problem solve to generate a solution you will be more inclined/likely to remember it where as if you are told what to do and when to do it then you are less likely to remember the process. I am really looking forward to what next week has install for us.
Below is the stop motion animation about what knowledge is.
